WW 2 Cemeteries Containing Buxton Casualties
Of all the Second World War Buxton War dead, named on the town’s War Memorials, 72 have a final resting resting place, in a total of 50 CWGC Cemeteries around the World.
Most surprising, perhaps, is that of these 38 are the only Buxton man in that Cemetery. A further 12 lie with just one other from the town.
Of the remainder, 11 are buried locally in Buxton Cemetery (7) and Fairfield Churchyard (4). These are invariably those invalided back to England, ill or wounded, before succumbing and returning ‘home’ for burial.
The Cemeteries where Buxton men and women can be found from the MENU BAR above, divided into the individual Cemeteries where each casualty lies.
