WW 1 Cemeteries Containing Buxton Casualties
Of all the First World War Buxton War dead, named on the town’s War Memorials, 203 have a final resting resting place, in a total of 134 CWGC Cemeteries around the World.
Most surprising, perhaps, is that of these 108 are the only Buxton man in that Cemetery. A further 26 lie with just one other from the town.
Of the remainder, 32 are buried locally in Buxton Cemetery (17), Fairfield Churchyard (15) and Burbage Churchyard (6). These are invariably those invalided back to England, ill or wounded, before succumbing and returning ‘home’ for burial.
The Cemeteries where Buxton men and women can be found from the MENU BAR above, divided into the individual Cemeteries where each casualty lies.
